看吃播學英文第4集—渣男情殺 + 老媽拌麵抽獎
這次跟雪莉從國一到現在最好的朋友一起拍攝，捕捉到更多我們平常的對話模式和用字遣詞，搭配影片更可以訓練日常口說和聽力。有前後文也更能全面理解詞彙，還有其他用詞和解釋、口語的說法和發音。順便可以參加抽獎喔！
al dente (adj.) cooked so as to be still firm when bitten
其實這是義大利文，但是也是英文裡面常用的詞。主要用來形容麵條，尤其是義大利麵。就是煮好以後中心微硬、Q彈的口感。
影片用句：You can cook it for as long as you want, but it’s not going to get mushy. It’s still going to be perfectly al dente.
翻譯：(這個麵)不管你煮多久都不會軟爛。還是會完美Q彈。
fragrant (adj.) having a pleasant smell 香
影片用句： The sesame is actually really really fragrant.
翻譯：這個芝麻其實非常非常香。
補充：香的其他用字還有 aromatic，可以交替使用。Fragrant 更常使用在有點甜味的香氣或是想睡的香氣。Aromatic 較常用在香料或是食物的香氣。
hell-bent (adj.) determined to achieve something at all costs 不顧一切的
hell-bent on doing something
影片用句：I was so hell-bent on doing this episode with Rosie.
翻譯：我不顧一切的一定要跟Rosie拍這一集。
其他例句：He tried to talk her out of it but she was hell-bent on going.
翻譯：他試圖說服她不要這麼做，但她死心塌地的要去。
ancient (adj.) from a distant past; very very old 古早的、古老的
影片用句：It’s, like, ancient history. And, as you said, no one talks about it anymore.
翻譯：那已經是古早的歷史了。然後就像你說的，已經沒有人在談論這件事了。
補充：ancient 有時候也會用來幽默的、開玩笑的指一個人非常老。例如蘿蔔糕跟我說他用過裝底片的錄影機我就笑他 "Oh my god you are ancient." 天啊，你超級古老。
dismantle (v.) to take into pieces (把機器或是樓房)拆成碎片
影片用句：I think they dismantled it.
翻譯：我想他們把它拆了。
demolish (v.) to knock down a building 拆除(樓房)
影片用句：So they just demolished the whole thing.
翻譯：所以他們把震動樓拆除了。
occupation (n.) a job or profession 職業
影片用句：Our dads literally have the same exact occupation.
翻譯：我們的爸爸確實有一模一樣的職業
dispose (v.) to get rid of something 處理掉、丟掉
dispose of something
影片用句：This is the first case in Taiwan, where someone tried to dispose of the body using chemicals.
這是台灣第一個有人試圖用化學物質處理掉屍體的案件。
literally (adv.) in a manner of taking words in their basic sense with no metaphor or exaggeration 字面上
影片用句：Literally, my only friend in college was Rosie and this one other girl from my department.
翻譯：我大學僅有的朋友是Rosie和我們系上的另一個女生，好不誇張。
補充：literally 原意是「按照字面上解釋」。常常用來強調一件事前確實如你所說，完全就是說的而沒有任何誇大。但很多人會在有誇大的時候依然使用，有很大一群人非常反感這種誤用，所以也是網路上常見到的爭論或是笑話梗。這邊雪莉沒有誤用，我大學確確實實就只有這兩個朋友。

翻譯：好的，反正，我離題了。
interfere (v.) to be part of a situation without invitation or necessity 干擾、介入
影片用句：I'm not going to interfere with anyone else's relationship.
翻譯：我不會介入任何其他人的感情。
get sth off one's chest (phr.) to say something one has wanted to say for a long time in order to feel relieved 把埋在心裡的事情說出來
影片用句：I just need to get it off my chest.
翻譯：我只是需要把這件事情說出來。
beat someone to it (phr.) to get to something or to succeed before someone else 搶在別人之前成功或是做某件事
影片用句：I can’t let Jenny beat me to it.
翻譯：我不能讓Jenny搶在我之前。
deteriorate (v.) to become progressively worse 惡化
影片用句：After this, Jenny and Hannah’s friendship obviously deteriorated.
翻譯：在這之後，Jenny 和 Hannah 的友誼明顯的惡化。
in the middle of nowhere (phr.) to be far away from the city and other people 在偏遠的地方、在鳥不下蛋的地方
影片用句：You’re in here and you feel like “maybe I’m in the city center.” Then you step out and it’s like “oh my god. I’m in the middle of nowhere.”
你在裡面的時候會覺得「我可能在市中心。」然後走出去就變成「天啊，我在鳥不下蛋的地方。」

影片用句：The cushion of her motorbike keeps getting slashed up.
翻譯：她的摩特車坐墊一直被亂割。
allegedly (adv.) claimed without proof 據稱
影片用句：Allegedly, based on what we know, this girl is not even interested in Tyler.
翻譯：據稱，根據我們所知道的，這個女生根本對Tyler沒有興趣。
harass (v.) subject to aggressive pressure or intimidation 騷擾
影片用句：But he’s harassing any male that I’m hanging out with.
翻譯：但他在騷擾每一個跟我相處的男性。
補充：hang out 其實就是非伴侶的交往、在一起的意思，不一定要出去玩，跟朋友在家擺爛也可以。但是中文的在一起和交往都延伸出了談戀愛的意思，所以句子中翻譯為相處。
frenemy (n.) friend + enemy 朋友+敵人
影片用句：During this time, Hannah and Jenny are frenemies.
翻譯：這段時間，Hannah 和 Jenny 既是朋友也是敵人。
escort (n.) a person that is hired to accompany someone (花錢請來)陪侍的人
影片用句：She starts working as an escort.
翻譯：她開始當酒店小姐。
補充：escort也可以是護衛的意思，但是通常作為名詞的時候是指例如做酒店、陪出遊、假約會這類的人。但跟妓女或牛郎不一樣，他們名義上是不提供性服務的。在其他地區，一些社交活動可以攜伴，很多人會花錢請長得好看、搬的上檯面的人一起出席，男女都有。因為要搬的上檯面，很多甚至是教育程度很高或是在念名校的人，而通常是不提供性服務的。fun fact, 世界上escort產業最大的國家竟然是中國，因為很多人「租女友」回家騙家長。

翻譯：她被告知她的卡刷爆了。
confront (v.) come face to face with someone with hostile or argumentative intent 當面對質、質問
影片用句：Jenny felt super humiliated, so she decided that she’s going to confront Hannah about this.
翻譯：Jenny覺得超級被羞辱，所以她決定要當面質問Hannah這件事。
damage (v.) to inflict harm 損害、傷害
影片用句：It wasn’t just her face that was damaged.
翻譯：不只有她的臉被損壞了。
interrogate (v.) to ask someone questions formally and/or aggressively 審問
影片用句：They took her to the coroner’s office and interrogated her in front of Jenny’s body.
翻譯：他們把她帶到驗屍官的辦公室並在Jenny的屍體前審問她。
補充：這種審問也可以用在非官方但是態度強烈的質問。例如：Why are you interrogating me about my whereabouts? 你為什麼一直盤問我的行蹤？
remorse (n.) deep guilt and regret 後悔、悔恨
影片用句：She’s just sitting there, showing no emotions, no remorse.
翻譯：她就坐在那邊，完全不露出任何情緒、不露出任何悔意。
plant (v.) to put something in a particular place or position 安插、放置
plant 的放置用在證據時是刻意的安插本來沒有的假證據。
影片用句：She was planting it.
翻譯：她在放置假證據。
frame (v.) to make someone appear guilty for something they didn’t do 嫁禍
影片用句：She was trying to frame Tyler!
翻譯：她在試圖嫁禍於Tyler!
installment (n.) a sum of money due as one of several equal payments for something, spread over an agreed period of time 分期付款的支付款項
影片用句：She could slowly pay it back in installments.
翻譯：她可以慢慢的分期付款。
scot-free (adj.) without receiving the deserved punishment 逃脫應有的懲罰
影片用句：He just got off scot-free.
翻譯：他完全沒受到應有的懲罰就脫身了。
catalyst (n.) someone or something that causes something to happen 催化劑；造成某事發生或加速發生的人或事
影片用句：He’s definitely the catalyst.
翻譯：他絕對是造成事件發生和惡化的人。
conjecture (n.) an opinion or conclusion formed on the basis of incomplete information 揣測
影片用句：We’re just guessing, speculating. It’s pure conjecture.
