Trust
2024 1024 Xiao Lu: Trust
Xiao Lu has been out of work for nearly three years since quitting his last job without securing another. He says it’s not that he’s in a hurry to return to the workforce; rather, he has come to terms with a reality—that he himself lacks a good attitude toward self-discipline and does not have the habit of self-restraint.
Initially, he would stay up late at night, scrolling on his phone or tablet, without any desire to sleep. Later, when he needed and wanted to sleep, his body completely ignored his mind’s consciousness and will. His body seemed to have its own rhythm and pace, completely disregarding the brain’s commands and desires.
He described a recent interview as the fastest and shortest one he’s had in the past twenty years. The chairman of the recruiting company asked him three questions but interrupted him before he could finish each answer. He wasn’t given the time or opportunity to ask questions, leaving him with no further information. At the time, he was displeased, and now he feels he should have trusted his emotional instinct. Back then, however, his rational mind convinced him that the chairman’s concise focus on key points was a sign of a strong, efficient management style—one where instructions are given directly, leaving no need for employees to guess.
But the truth only reveals itself once you are in the actual environment. The young colleague, who was supposed to be his future work partner according to the interview, had already left a month earlier. He was told that the current assistant could help with many tasks, but in reality, while passionate and enthusiastic, the assistant had no foundation for the job. Lacking experience and theoretical knowledge, the assistant mistook basic common sense for expertise, staying busy like a spinning top. Worse still, the assistant ignored Xiao Lu’s guidance and suggestions, even blaming him for not adapting quickly enough.
What Xiao Lu fears most in the workplace is when someone without expertise leads those who truly understand the work. Even more dangerous is when subordinates use their seniority to shout down a newly appointed supervisor. This was not a place to stay long, so he decided to leave.
The job's responsibilities, as described in the interview, did not match the reality, and it felt as though the truth had been deliberately hidden. Even seasoned professionals can find themselves bullied by ruthless capitalists.
Seeking guidance, Xiao Lu turned to the universe and drew the Tarot card: Trust. The universe said that encountering such experiences only highlights the importance of trust. Light is a symbol of trust. Don’t be afraid of those who make you feel the presence of light. Try to trust again, try to see the goodness in others, and try to build and embrace new relationships. The universe and the heavens will not give you more than you can handle. Trust in your abilities, trust in your circumstances, and trust that your kind-hearted self will encounter beautiful opportunities.
