Brilliance

1/1

Brilliance

2024-11-14 Ah Cheng: Brilliance

The scheduled time arrived, yet you hadn’t logged in. It turned out you were still working—really tough on you.

Ah Cheng mentioned he’s a real estate agent, and the government recently rolled out a few programs that have given many young people the tangible chance to pursue homeownership, something they’d only dreamed of before. As a result, many clients are eager to schedule viewings.

He said that while the influx of clients might look promising for good sales and bonuses, reality isn’t quite as bright. People are doing extensive research online, reading up, and gathering plenty of information. I think this is great—it reduces information asymmetry, which means fewer people end up being taken advantage of.

Ah Cheng said our perspectives differ. I agreed and asked if he wouldn’t also research a car before buying, by asking around or looking it up online. He said, “Of course.” So, I replied, “Exactly. Buying a house is even more expensive, and it’s likely a once-in-a-lifetime purchase. It’s only sensible to be cautious.” I went on to share my perspective: if the property is good and the price fair, you won’t need to spin persuasive pitches. Interested clients will know it’s a good deal at a glance. But if the property lacks appeal or is overpriced, no matter how hard you work or how many clients you bring through, your chances of closing the deal in today’s transparent market are slim.

Every industry complains business is hard; every boss says they’re under pressure, and every employee laments they can’t go on. People who complain seem to get better treatment, so it’s as if we’ve collectively adopted whining as our first reaction to challenges. It’s almost become a national pastime. In reality, only a few truly brilliant people exist, and 80% of the world’s wealth is in their hands. The rest of us ordinary folks are just striving to claim a piece of the remaining 20%. Maybe I only know regular people, but I haven’t noticed anyone’s work getting any easier.

Ah Cheng then said that training new hires is exhausting and complicated, and he doesn’t want to keep doing it. But we’re just small-time employees; we don’t have the power to say “no.” Besides, training new hires is a valuable learning experience, but stubborn Ah Cheng insists he just wants to focus on his own work.

We both know work isn’t done in isolation, just as living in this world isn’t. You can’t just look out for yourself. However, an utterly worn-out Ah Cheng doesn’t want to hear this anymore. So, all I can say is: take care of yourself, talk things over with your supervisor, and with the recent weather fluctuations, be mindful of staying well.

Then you mentioned that you started feeling off some time ago. It turned out you had shown a client a rather unkempt property, and since that day, you’ve often felt dizzy. I suggested you see a specialist the next day and mentally apologize for any disturbance caused. You realized that you hadn’t observed such precautions and felt it was an oversight.

It seems that recently, due to exhaustion and low spirits, you’ve lost the rigor and enthusiasm you once had for work, which is unfortunate. Some mistakes simply can’t be made, and I believe that poor emotional management led you to inadvertently break a taboo, causing discomfort to your client. But given how overburdened you already are, it’s tough to say much more.

So, I asked the universe to bless you through a Tarot card pull, and the universe’s gift to you is the Brilliance card. The universe reminds you that I’m sharing with you things you’ve recently ignored or dismissed, but which are very important to you. If you take my words to heart and sense the concern behind them, you might experience a moment of clarity, a “lightbulb moment.” If not, that’s unfortunate—you’ll have missed the universe’s guidance and blessing through our conversation. Hopefully, in a few days, after you’re feeling more settled, you’ll look back on our exchange and still have a chance to receive this crucial insight.
