Fulfillment

To You, Dear Candlelights: Fulfillment
This
world is not only imperfect—it is deeply flawed.
This society is not only unkind—it is cruelly harsh.
There are those who wield power to oppress the weak, those who use wealth to demean the poor, those who exploit their positions to crush those below, and those who resort to violence to bully the defenseless.
This
world is brutal; this society is unsightly.
We see it every day in the news.
And yet, here I am, in a small corner of this vast world, watching a small group of people take turns each day. In tiny rooms, they pick up their microphones, speaking softly, patiently listening to the stories shared by many.
Here,
no one has a name. No one is themselves.
Here, no one shows emotion. No one asserts their identity.
Here, they are like candles—each one igniting a small flame, hoping to offer a faint light, a faint warmth, to the person on the other end of the phone.
This light is not bright, but perhaps it is a glimmer of hope.
This warmth is not strong, but perhaps it is a promise to hold on.
Those who have not walked through the dark valleys cannot understand how terrifying an entire pitch-black night can be.
We cannot carve through the heavy walls of the canyon, nor break through the soil that blocks the shining sun.
Outside, the world blooms with vibrant life, but on this barren land, even
water cannot leave a trace. Vitality is sparse and fragile here.
Yet this group of volunteers, on this infertile and desolate ground, persist day and night, tirelessly cultivating. As long as there is a hint of hope, they refuse to give up.
No one knows their names, no one sees their faces.
They are like countless Batmen, protecting every incoming call.
And the callers—like the broken citizens of Gotham City—find hope and life in
these warm voices, as though responding to the Bat-Signal shining in the night.
I
feel profound and heartfelt admiration for these kindhearted volunteers, who
dedicate themselves year after year, day after day.
May the universe bless them.
The Tarot card drawn for them is Fulfillment.
How moving this is. Yes, these nameless and selfless volunteers find inner fulfillment simply in the act of giving and helping others.
It is truly extraordinary and deeply admirable.
I am fortunate to witness such a group of quietly dedicated individuals.
Though I know how vile this society can be, I also know, in many places, how
kind and warm this world truly is.
Buddha once said that every human birth is meant to resolve the karmic ties of past lives.
Even if it’s just a fleeting encounter, it is still a beautiful connection.
May we all cherish what is before us and the people around us.
